An animal is not a plant

Over the last few weeks, I have eaten delicious, locally sourced food - amazing enough for me to blog about. Venison & goose, shot and killed in the woodlands within a few kilometres of home in countryside UK & octopus tentacles in Spain, fresh from the local ocean. The photos below are slightly morbid, and whilst looking through 'meat' images I was a bit horrified by images which flashed up of mass hunting, killing, fishing in commercial settings. Commercial fishing of the oceans for certain fish, will also catch dolphins and other species who will end up discarded and killed for no reason. Slaughter houses are a production line of routine stages, kill, pluck, stun, slash - however kill methods are designed to not stress the animals as this taints the meat, yet the clinical ease of the kill and mass method are ghastly. In conclusion, we should be greatful for the meat we eat & the animals who are sacrificed for our lifebeing (and our enjoyment of taste). I want to try to eat local (slow), 'ethically' produced meat, free range, fed well, lived as well as possible.
